Web Site Redesign and SEO
Filed under: Uncategorized; No CommentsIf you have been considering a web site redesign, think of it as an opportunity to also improve your site’s search engine optimization (SEO). Many webmasters with sites that rank even relatively well in the search engine result pages (SERPs) worry that redesigning their site might destroy their keyword rankings and therefore their site’s free organic web traffic. But a redesign can actually be a golden opportunity to improve the SEO of your site and increase its organic search traffic dramatically.
SEO Site Review
Before embarking on a site redesign project, you should take inventory of what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong with your existing site from an SEO perspective. Perform a thorough SEO site review of all on-site and on-page search engine ranking factors and document your findings. This document will be used later to set search engine optimization goals for your newly redesigned site.
SEO Rankings and Traffic Baselines
You will need baseline measurements for your existing site’s keyword rankings and organic traffic volume prior to beginning any redesign work. These baselines can then be used after your newly redesigned site goes live to determine whether or not the SEO goals for your project have been met.
If you are not already using a web analytics package, you should consider getting one. Google Analytics is free and is excellent for gaining insight into your site’s traffic. Pay special attention to which URLs on your existing site are getting organic traffic from the search engines and the search phrases used to find those URLs in the SERPs. This information will be invaluable when optimizing the pages of your newly redesigned site.
You should also pull weekly ranking reports for not only the keyword phrases that you are targeting but also the keyword phrases found when reviewing your existing organic traffic using your web analytics software. It’s recommended that you pull the ranking reports weekly for a minimum of several weeks before beginning your site redesign project.
The Web Site Redesign
Once you are armed with your SEO site review, have reviewed your organic traffic via your web analytics package, and have keyword rankings for your site’s most important keyword phrases, you can begin planning and working on your site redesign. The first step in the process is figuring out what you would like to change about your existing site.
Document all of your site redesign and SEO goals thoroughly. This should include not only aesthetic and usability changes but also SEO related changes to things like the organization of your site, your navigation structures and interlinking of pages, SEO friendly URLs, coding standards, etc. If there is anything you want to change about the site from an SEO perspective, it is best to do it all at once as part of your redesign.
Work out your site design on paper before a single line of code is written. Use wire frames to design your page layouts. Create mockups of each type of page as it will appear on the redesigned site. Include as many of the SEO elements as possibly on the mockups - top navigation, left navigation (if applicable), footer links (if applicable), the h1 element, h2 elements, etc. Use the mockups to detect and solve usability and SEO related issues before you start coding. If you rename or delete any URLs on your site as part of the redesign then be sure to implement 301 redirects so that the new URLs will get credit for inbound links to the old URLs.
Once you are satisfied with your new site design, turn the developer(s) loose to implement your changes.
Testing Your Site Redesign
It is very important to thoroughly test your redesigned web site. Test all pages on the site from a functional, usability, and SEO perspective. Review the HTML source code for each of the pages on your site. Check all on-page ranking factors like the title, meta description, h1, and h2 elements. Make sure all links are either SEO friendly text links or image links. Check that all image links have the alt attribute set properly since it is considered the link text for an image link.
Do not forget to document and, if possible, test the process of upgrading your site. If you have a development environment, install a copy of the existing site and go through the process of upgrading. If you encounter any problems when testing the upgrade, modify the process and documentation to adjust for the issue, and try it again. Repeat the process until you are comfortable that you have a sound plan.
Once you’re satisfied that your redesigned site is working properly and meets all of your SEO goals, you will be ready to go live with the new site design. If possible schedule the upgrade for a non-peak time of day. If your site has seasonal traffic, schedule the upgrade for the off-season.
After Your Site Redesign is Live
Once your site redesign is live, you will need to monitor your site closely. Continue to pull weekly keyword ranking reports and to monitor your web analytics. Pay particular attention to pages that received lots of organic traffic before the redesign went live. Use Google’s Webmaster Tools to monitor things like 404 Not Found errors.
Expect to see a temporary drop in rankings and traffic as the search engines absorb all of the changes you made as part of the redesign. However, if you planned, tested, and executed your site redesign well then rankings and traffic should return stronger than ever after a few days, weeks, or possibly even a month or two depending on the extent of changes made to the site.

Deciding On Local Chiropractic Providers?
Filed under: Uncategorized; No CommentsLike any person living in this day and age, when I want to find something, I look online. It doesn’t matter if I’m looking for a place to eat, or if I want to find a Portland Chiropractor. The steps are usually the same.
I type in my search phrase, like Salt Lake City Chiropractor, and I wait for the results page to show up. Then what? How do i know who’s the best? One of my favorite places to look is the online reviews. Online reviews aren’t necessarily the most trustworthy (they’re anonymous after all), but at least it’s something to go by.
If someone has no reviews (good or bad), does that mean they’re good? They just haven’t made anyone mad? Or does it mean that no one was knocked out by their service and decided that they werent’ worth the time?
I think that any professional should start to learn the value of having a review online. At least something to cancel out the inevitable bad review you’re bound to get at some point or another. I know that when I went to check for a Stratford CT Chiropractor, it made me feel much more comfortable knowing there were reviews for me to check out.
If you have a bad experience with any type of service industry, consider posting a review. It doesn’t have to be nasty or over the top, but help others avoid something terrible. Of course if you’re willing to do that, make sure you leave good reviews too!
Otherwise, the internet will just become nothing but negativity without any hope of finding someone good. Even the best restaurants have an off day. It shouldn’t live in infamy online forever and ever.

Filed under: Uncategorized; No CommentsObtaining a website to appear within the initial page of seek out engine outcomes can be a common goal for most webmasters, yet few possess the skills to actually gain it.
Quite a few webmasters make the mistake of assuming that a ranking for one generic expression associated to their web page will turn their web page into a profitable success. Even though that one generic expression may perhaps supply a great stream of traffic and brand awareness, this does not mean the traffic will convert into sales or leads, and also the costs of targeting that time period will tower over your return on investment. It is very best for the webmaster to target various names that not only drive targeted traffic, but also lead to that all essential conversion.
With this in mind, you’ll be able to now think about those people generic stipulations that you think persons will use Traffic Ultimatum to try and come across your internet site. It shouldn’t just be one particular time period - a trap that a lot of webmasters fall into is assuming that one period will provide enough site visitors to sustain business and are surprised that enterprise does not increase if they do accomplish that ranking. Contemplate all from the feasible phrases and themes of your website, even making use of a thesaurus to locate linked names or checking competitor sites for ideas. It can be surprising just what stipulations your possible visitors will probably be applying!
The Overture Keyword Tool, located at inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/, is free to use and gives you a record of suggested phrases too as the quantity of searches conducted on the Yahoo! Look for Advertising network during the last month (Yahoo! Bought Overture and rebranded it Yahoo! Look for Advertising).
Making use of these tools ought to have now provided you having a checklist of phrases which might be significantly additional targeted than your original generic phrases. These can include breaking your term down by geographical location, or a certain product. You will probably be able to optimise your website for multiple phrases – remember that search engines like google index web pages and not just internet websites. That means all with the pages in your website is usually identified in search engines, which in turn means all of individuals pages could be optimised for various phrases!
So you should now finally have a listing with the ideal probable targeted phrases for your internet site! With the recent economic down turn affecting all areas of the logistic and transport industry, companies can be forgiven for cutting costs in all possible ways. However, the current buoyancy of the transport training market proves that it’s not all ‘doom and gloom’ and some things are really worth the investment.
The consensus from the large conglomerates that training is key to success has filtered throughout the transport training industry, with many SMEs and owner drivers signing up to all forms of training.
Many operators have felt the pinch but with the help of up-skilling and compliance assistance, transport training candidates are thriving. The recent Managers CPC success is testament to the expansion of the number of companies taking training seriously. Couple this with the rapid expansion of driver CPC take up, and it points to an industry fighting back.
The worst may or may not be behind us but this is not time for complacency. Take the initiative to put yourself at the front of competition, training and up-skilling is key to the survival of any company and with the new CPC laws in full effect, now is the appropriate time.
Courses available to transport sectors are many and varied. The popular ADR Training course is still as successful as ever, and Fuel Efficient Driving is growing day by day. Participation on these practical courses is easier than expected,
Most drivers are aware of NVQ training previously popular is this sector. However, with funding restrictions enforced in all areas only the largest training providers have any funding allocation left. This funded training is worth every penny of tax payer’s money; however mere pounds and pence must not be the overruling factor when choosing your training path.
The PCV sector is into their second year of CPC training and the Logistic Operators can learn many lessons from their experiences. Whist certain CPC courses may appear cheap as the saying goes ‘you get what you pay for’. You are going to have to do this training so why waste good money to be stuck in a dark room with ‘death by PowerPoint’ when you can get high quality, hands on training.
The key is forward planning. Those who plan now and schedule their training now will reap the rewards in the future. With five years before CPC effects those drivers with grandfather rights why not do one module a year rather than wait till the last minute and hope a training provider can squeeze you in? The positive reaction so far is an encouraging sign for the future.
In September 2014 we don’t want drivers sitting outside their cabs unable to drive.
The vision of LGV driving is changing; the professional industry we all know is at the forefront of innovative development. Imperative to this change is skill and knowledge of transport training providers to facilitate the changes required to accomplish this. -

Introduction
Mention the word demolition to almost anyone and the picture that instantly comes to mind is a vision of a building being blown up and collapsing to the ground. Many people have stated that they would love to push the button, to detonate the explosive devices which bring a disused building to the ground. In many cases what comes down, must go up and we are seeing many empty buildings being demolished to make way for future development, often as part of a regeneration project.
For companies who over many years have built their business around the demolition of buildings, the demolition sector is now far more reaching than just blowing up old buildings. Once the building is demolished the huge task of site clearance begins and in a world where consideration of the environmental impacts are high on most peoples agenda, the material residues from demolition need to be sorted for recycling purposes. This will include such materials as steel, wood, plastic, brickwork and concrete.
Most of the materials can be bulked up and transported to the appropriate recycling plants for reprocessing. Materials such as bricks and concrete can be crushed and turned into a recycled concrete aggregate product ready for reuse in the construction of new roads or buildings. Increasingly though, through advances in technological development, residues such as concrete to be recycled have to meet a very high specification for reuse in construction projects.
Crushed into different sizes of recycled aggregate will determine the future usage potential of the product. Large sizes could be used as decorative rockery products in landscaping whilst much finer, almost shingle like product can be used as a bedding for pipe laying or as a layer in road construction. With an increasing number of opportunities identified for the reuse of recycled aggregate, the entire demolition and construction industry is making a significant contribution to sustainable development. Following demolition of a site, many demolition contractors have expanded their service offering to include site clearance services.
Reasons Behind the Increased Focus on Recycling from Construction and Demolition Projects
In 1996, UK Government imposed a tax on all wastes going to landfill. The tax is paid on top of normal gate fees for waste being disposed in landfill and since its introduction the cost has increased on an annual basis. When first introduced, the standard rate of tax for general wastes going to landfill was £7 per tonne and £2 per tonne for inert materials. The tax is designed to encourage commercial and industrial businesses and local authorities collecting from households, to divert waste away from landfill for recycling. In April 2009, the standard rate of landfill tax increased to £40 per tonne and is scheduled to increase each year by £8 per tonne until 2013. The lower rate of tax charged upon any inert materials going to landfill such as concrete and soils, has remained relatively steady in recent years and is currently at £2.50 per tonne.
However, the weight factor alone of a bulk load of these inert materials going directly to landfill will ensure that the entire cost of disposal becomes very expensive and so even in the demolition and construction sector, diverting waste from landfill is a priority. The introduction of landfill tax has been a key driver in encouraging greater diversion of inert materials from landfill, to be used in sustainable development projects.
Smaller quantities of decorative recycled stone can be perfect for laying driveways for properties.
Next time you see a demolition project in progress or pass any construction site during a build programme, it is clear to see the volume of waste being generated. If waste is not in skips, piles of rubble will be stacked high. The placing of brick waste in skips has been a major problem for waste contractors for many years. Having worked in the waste industry, I have seen skip lorries tipped backwards with the cab of the vehicle up in the air, due to the sheer overloading of waste skips with construction site waste.
Each year, the UK generates around 330 million tonnes of waste and it is estimated that around 90 million tonnes of this is from construction and demolition wastes. This figure has remained fairly constant since 2001. Around two thirds of this waste is usually recycled or reused in land reclamation or agricultural improvement projects. Since the late 1990s there has been a steady rise in the volumes of construction waste being recycled and this has been helped with advances in technology which have led to improved crushing technology to create more widespread use of different specifications of recycled aggregates.
In recent years, the construction industry as a whole has worked hard to encourage construction project managers to place a greater focus upon recycling on site. This has led to an increase in the recycling of all inert materials from site.
Prior to the introduction of the landfill tax all construction site waste including bricks and concrete would be bulked up and transferred to a landfill site for disposal. No consideration was given to recycling. There are now stringent regulations across the sector, coupled with an increase in environmental awareness, as well as the commercial benefits in ensuring that this type of waste is now recycled. There is also greater recognition of the vast array of opportunities to re-use recycled aggregates within the construction process on new construction projects or in areas such as landscaping or home and garden DIY. Following the demolition process, together the waste concrete, bricks, masonry etc will be transformed into a recycled concrete aggregate.
To recycle concrete aggregate to a high standard and resalable product, it must be entirely free of other contaminants such as wood, paper, card, steel and other general waste materials. The final product must also conform to the requirements of British Standard BS 8500. The process of recycling the concrete can usually be achieved in one of two ways. Some demolition contractors will transport a crushing machine on the demolition site, whereas some contractors will prefer to transport the waste to be recycled, back to their own premises for separation for recycling or re-use. On projects where demolition and new construction is to take place at the same location, the contractor is very likely to locate a crushing machine on site to avoid incurring additional transportation costs in taking the material back to a sorting and crushing facility.
Larger buildings to be demolished, will require specialist asbestos removal and demolition contractors need to be appointed to regulate the job.
The Increasing Demand for High Quality Recycled Aggregate
Before commencing the crushing process, it must be determined what the end product is to be used for to ensure that the recycled aggregate is to meet the required standards. There is huge requirement for recycled concrete aggregate to be used back in the construction process. As a product, recycled concrete aggregate can be used for almost any type of concrete structural work, road surfacing or pipe laying project. Having passed through the crusher the chunks of aggregate will be separated by size. Bigger pieces may be retained as a decorative product for use in garden rockery projects, or they may be passed back through the crusher to be pummeled to a smaller size. The smaller pieces of recycled aggregate may be suitable for use as a gravel on new construction projects, road laying or driveways at home. The crushing machines are now capable of achieving good quality small aggregate grades such as the production of a 20-5mm gravel which can be bagged and used in the garden at home or bought in bulk as part of projects involving new concrete production. The advances in technology mean that the recycling of aggregates for other uses such as a simple gravel product or for use in concrete products has greatly reduced the need to dig quarries to mine for gravel. Recycled aggregates have become a versatile reusable product and has eliminated the need for large volumes of a good material to be disposed of in landfill and therefore offer significant environmental benefits.
The demand for high quality crushed aggregate is increasing. There are key standards in place which are focused upon improving the recycled concrete aggregate industry. Through research and development, more widespread uses are being identified for the use of recycled aggregate. No longer is concrete, just concrete. What we are talking about now are many different grades of recycled aggregate, ranging from the large chunks of aggregate to very specific 6f2 recycled concrete which can be employed as a sub-base material for construction jobs, or 20-5mm recycled aggregate, which is a gravel and can be used in road construction or at home on driveways. As well as being used as a mix for road construction, recycled aggregate is being used as bedding for pipe laying or foundation material prior to construction projects commencing. In achieving such good quality grades the 20-5mm recycled aggregate can be used as an aggregate base in road construction and the quality meets the standards required to allow its reuse in concrete production. The 20-5mm recycled aggregate is a very versatile product.
One of the important criteria when using recycled aggregate is choosing the right specification for the task. For example, when using 20-5mm coarse graded aggregate as a road base, the thickness of the layer required must be determined to withstand traffic flows. Traffic flow on a motorway will be significantly different to that of a country road. One reason aggregate produced to a 20-5mm specification is used as a road base is that it aids good drainage. Once the recycled aggregate is laid, appropriate layers of asphalt or concrete can be laid over it to create the road surface.
In recent years, in the UK we seem to have more rain than sunshine and therefore the selected aggregate must be able to withstand variances in temperature and conditions e.g. dampness for long periods, torrential downpours, long dry spells. With its good drainage qualities, the recycled 20-5mm product is the perfect choice for many sand and gravel applications including, pipe bedding, driveways and footpaths, landscaping, plus for use in ready mixed and precast concrete products.
There is stringent legislation in place to provide guidance on the safe asbestos removal from buildings.
Recycled Aggregates and the 2012 Olympics
In its bid for the 2012 Olympic Games, London placed sustainability as the focal point of its bid. The bid team identified a major opportunity to increase awareness of climate change and the issues which surround it, and bring it to the World’s attention. With the eyes of the World watching, the Olympic Games present a unique opportunity to communicate key messages about sustainability. Throughout the entire development of the Olympic project, there is a commitment to make 2012 the most sustainable Olympic Games ever held. This focus began when planning the development and build programmes for the facilities and venues, the transport links and network, the hosting of the Games themselves and will end by leaving a long lasting legacy of a sustainable environment.
Since London was awarded the Games, all companies involved in the development requirements, from the construction of the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Village and transport links to the venues have been encouraged upon ensuring the use wherever possible of sustainable materials. Across the entire Olympic build programme construction managers have worked hard to identify suitable sustainable materials for use in the build programme. At the end of the overall project there will be some clearly visible examples of the use of sustainable products.
qually there will be many more much less visible and furthermore, many which will be not visible at all. One of those products which visitors to the games and its many venues will not even think about will be how recycled aggregates have been specified as part of the overall construction project. But developers and specifiers of materials for use in the build programme will be comfortable in the knowledge that they have selected sustainable products including, the most appropriate recycled aggregates as part of the project. With its identified qualities, let’s hope that somewhere in the world wide TV coverage the 20-5mm recycled aggregate gets a mention somewhere, somehow. Imagine being asked to supply recycled aggregate which meets a very specific 20-5mm clean material specification, to help build the 2012 Olympic Village.
Conclusion
How times have changed in recent years for the demolition and construction industry. Companies have had to adapt to meet challenging environmental requirements. As with almost any industry, new regulations and legislation dictate the standards to which your business must aspire, if it is to be successful.
Businesses involved in the production of recycled concrete aggregate are no different. These are classed as processed materials and must conform to a particular product specification which can be used in the construction process. The standard BS8500-2 offers a full specification for the uses of recycled concrete aggregates in concrete, although with such a vast range of recycled aggregates an all encompassing specification for the use of these aggregates is yet to be determined. The most important thing is that the industry does not stand still and wait for the specifications to be finalised. The versatility of recycled aggregates means that demolition contractors operating crushing plants are seeking to identify markets through which to sell their recycled products. The advances in crusher technology and machinery has seen a big increase in the options now available in supplying large chunks of recycled aggregate for landscape gardening use in rockeries, down to a gravel type 20-5mm recycled aggregate with its good drainage qualities for use in road construction and driveways. The demolition and construction industry now places sustainability at the forefront of its future development projects.
